Demi Lovato is here to remind you that she is confident and secure in who she is. The Sorry Not Sorry singer took to her Instagram stories on Friday, March 29, to hit back at a publication that suggested she stepped out with a “fuller figure.” Demi, 26, spoke out against the headline writing: “Unlike the past, I’m not triggered, I’m not upset that someone wrote a headline about my “fuller figure .” I am angry that people think it’s okay to write headlines about people’s body shapes.”

She continued: “Especially a woman who has been so open about being in recovery from an eating disorder. I’m not upset for myself but for anyone easily influenced by the diet culture.” The Tell Me You Love Me singer has been public about her past struggles with eating disorders . Demi shared a lesson for people who may be influenced by other’s opinions about their body image. “Too many people today base their ideal body weight off of what OTHERS tell us we should look like or weigh. Articles like these only contribute to that toxic way of thinking.”

The Disney alum had a message for her fans. “Don’t listen to negative diet culture talk. You are more than a number on a scale. And I am more than a headline about my body shape.” The Body Party singer also showed an exchange between her and the writer of the article. After accepting his apology, Demi had one final message for her fans . “Goodnight guys…I love you so much. Don’t forget to tell yourself ow beautiful and worthy you are of a happy and healthy life .”

In 2018, the Disney alum discussed getting candid about her eating disorders in her documentary Simply Complicated. “ I was really hard to talk about on camera . But I knew that if I was honest, it would help somebody understand,” she told Teen Vogue. “Sometimes I’m not perfect with my recovery and my eating issues, but I keep fighting. And I want people to see that.”
